well if the sky can crack there must be someway back

april showers bring may flowers, right?

this is a severe weather advisory.

i’m about sick of hearing that shit.

about a month ago there was some really nasty weather here. hail wind and torrential rain kind of stuff. then it passed, and the weather was nice for a while.

a few weekends ago? saturday was BEAUTIFUL. you couldn’t have had a nicer day.

sunday afternoon was OK. nothing fantastic, but not quite shitty either. until about 4:30. we’re outside watching clouds roll in, and i notice that there’s a big plywood plank out in the middle of the street that the neighbor kid uses for street hockey practice and never puts away.

while we’re standing there, the tornado sirens start going off, and like some jedi mind trick kind of shit, i am clairvoyant of what the future holds. i can see perfectly a vision of the plywood board lifting up in the wind and slamming into the windshield of my newly repaired vehicle.

so i go out to the street and get the plywood board – the board is probably 4 ft. by 4 ft. and is fairly heavy as far as plywood goes. i grab the board and start dragging it towards the house, still a little nervous that i’m doing this while the tornado sirens are blaring.

when you listen to eye witness accounts of tornados, they all sound very similar: the sky was kind of green and it sounded like a freight train.

sure enough, i’m screwing around outside with this stupid board and all of a sudden – here comes the freight train.

was there a tornado? beats me. i ran my ass inside and went straight to the basement. there were plenty of tornados that night, i just dont know if any of them were actually in my immediate area. the really nasty stuff was over about as soon as it started – ten minutes, maybe fifteen from start to finish. some torrential rain and a little wind stayed for an hour or so.

naturally, all of the shitty weather resulted in the power going out. our power goes out a lot – usually only for a few minutes at a time, and never more than an hour or so. our power was out this time for 2 days. no heat, no fridge, no nothing. two whole refridgerators of stuff had to be thrown out. trees everywhere were down, shingles and roofs were damaged. forest park was a giant mess with huge trees damaged and pulled out of the ground.

the good news is that two weeks or so has gone by with fairly nice weather. the temperature is all over the place, but at least it isn’t monsooning anymore.

now i hear there’s supposed to be more of it. i’m ready for this to end. ‘in like a lion, out like a lamb’ my ass.
