‘lately i can’t tell / where all this is taking me’
so it’s been a while..
to be honest, i’m not even sure anyone visits here anymore. regardless, i’ll start posting again now.
i’m sure that at least some of you noticed that i haven’t posted anything since like april. yeah, that sucks. i’ve pretty much been a fucking bum about it. but i’ve had a busy and eventful couple of months, and i guess now’s as good a time as any to talk about it. most important stuff first, then i’ll talk about the other stuff some other time.
first and foremost, i finally graduated college! i graduated with my BSBA in may, i finally payed off the last little bit i owed school (only after they threatened to call a collection agency), and i even have my diploma now. everyone keeps telling me congratulations and that i’ve earned it and worked hard and all that crap, but i really haven’t worked very hard at all.
i’m confident that in a couple of weeks when everyone starts school, i’ll start having anxiety attacks and be completely confused about what i should be doing. even though my health insurance and student benefits have all run out now, i still feel good not having to fill out a fafsa, arrange a semester course schedule, or buy books and attend class. it feels really good to be done with all that stuff. and as much as i was stressing about the insurance and other stuff, i’m not anymore.
‘why aren’t you stressing about it?!?! it’s a big deal!’
yeah, yeah, big deal, if i didn’t just get a job!
finally, after months of stressing, preparing resumes, not getting responses, going on shitty interviews, not getting called back ever again, and being lied to by bullshit managers and hr people, i finally found a place that had a full time full benefits position for me.
where at? well, strangely enough, the exact same place that i’ve been working for the last 7 and a half years. over half of the finance department has quit in the past two months, and that created a position for me that was perfect for my experience and education. while it’s not exactly an application of my degree’s MIS emphasis, it is a perfect application of the rest of my business administration degree. i’ll be working full time as a staff accountant/clerk in our accounts payable department, effective august 23rd.
full time, full benefits, and respectably salary. no weekends, no holidays, no late nights, no bullshit. i guess it’s finally time to start being a productive part of the real world, and hopefully i’ll be able to use this as a starting point for me future, which is lacking in detailed direction right now.
back to work on the cramer/dunn wedding video, then it’s off to kansas city for some long awaited dmb.
